THE Wodonga Senryukai Karate Club made its mark on the Victorian Championships in Melbourne last weekend. Six members competed in team and individual events, with the youngsters picking up a swag of medals in their first crack at the titles. Two teams competed in the under-12 Kyu grades kata, with Lysje Boyd, Trent Connors and Tyler Gutsche grabbing first place and James Harrison, Jarod Stratton and Matthew Allen runner-ups. The youngsters also placed in individual events, with Harrison being the state champion. The club is run by Sensei Andrew Boyd and has about 30 members who train three times a week. Stratton and Harrison will represent the club in Perth in October.
